Consumer price index is an indicator that measures the price changes of consumer goods and services generally purchased by households. The rate of change in the price index is called the inflation rate. To calculate the Consumer Price Index of Macao, types and weights of individual goods and services are first updated according to the latest consumption pattern of households derived from the results of the Household Budget Survey; then, retail prices of these goods and services are collected through the Consumer Price Survey for the compilation of the consumer price index.
